Seventeen (SVT)
Seventeen (Korean: 세븐틴; stylized in all caps or abbreviated as SVT) is a South Korean boy band formed by Pledis Entertainment. The group consists of thirteen members: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino.
Seventeen is considered a "self-producing" idol group, with the members actively participating in songwriting, music production, and choreography, among other aspects of their music and performances.
Career Highlights & Achievements
• Debut (2015): The group debuted on May 26, 2015, with the extended play (EP) 17 Carat. It became the longest-charting K-pop album of the year in the US and the only rookie album to appear on Billboard's "10 Best K-Pop Albums of 2015" list.
• Studio Albums: Since then, they have released five studio albums, all of which topped South Korea's Circle Album Chart, alongside numerous EPs in both Korean and Japanese.
• Record-Breaking Sales (2023): Their 2023 EPs, FML and Seventeenth Heaven, both broke records for the best-selling albums in history. FML became the best-selling global album of 2023 according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
• Major Awards: Both records won the Album of the Year award at the MAMA Awards in 2023 and 2024.
• Signature Songs: Some of the group's signature tracks include "Very Nice," "Super," and "Fallin' Flower."
Group Structure & Titles
While they primarily perform as a single group, Seventeen is divided into three main units—Hip-Hop, Vocal, and Performance—each specializing in a different area. They have also formed five sub-units: BSS, JxW, HxW, CxM, and DxS.
